Special Event
Catholic Community Services and A Place Call Home invite you to the Fostering Hope: 1st Annual Southern Arizona Foster Care Conference on Sat Aug 12, 2023 at 8:30am in Tucson, AZ. This FREE in-person event will take place at 2160 North 6th Avenue, and is designed to bring together foster care, adoptive, and kinship families, and community members to share experiences, learn new skills, and connect with resources.
All children need a nurturing and safe home. When children are removed from their parents’ custody by the Department of Child Safety (DCS), they need physical and emotional safety. We recruit and prepare families to welcome children into their homes and care for them. To show our commitment to the children and the foster families, we offer on-going supportive services to enhance the foster family experience.
Arizona’s greatest need is for foster families who will care for sibling groups and children age 4 and older – especially teens. Our foster care specialists are on call to help place children and respond to foster families. We also license relative and non-relative families interested in foster care licensing.
DCS established criteria to become a licensed foster parent which includes, but not limited to bedroom space, safety of the home, age, willingness to participate in the child’s team.
Some DCS involved children may not reunite with their family of origin, so our agency recruits and certifies families interested in adopting DCS involved children. Our agency works with DCS to “match” legally free children with a “forever” family. Adoption certification staff work with foster families or other community families to adopt available children.
To learn more about becoming a licensed foster or certified adoptive parent, please view the online orientation provided by DCS at the following link: https://dcs.az.gov/fosteradoption/steps-becoming-foster-parent or call 1-877-KIDSNEEDU (1-877-543-7633).
To contact Catholic Community Services regarding foster or adoption, please call 520-623-0344 to be connected to our staff or email us at Fosteradopt@ccs-soaz.org.
Once you have viewed the DCS orientation online, we will schedule a time to ask a few questions as well as answer any questions you have. Once you choose an agency to work with, we can plan a home visit to review the process in greater detail.
