Catholic Community Services invites loving parents who want to open their hearts and homes to an adoptive child in the foster care system. Adoption certification is a process in which those who wish to adopt a child from the State of Arizona Department of Child Safety undergo rigorous background checks, document submissions and interviewing. Upon submission of a Home Study report to the Court, a Judge decides whether to certify the person(s) as adoptive parents.
After parents become certified, there is a "match" process to pick the optimum relational match between child(ren) and parents. This is based on a multitude of factors including parental openness to sex, age, sibling group, behavioral patterns, mental health, and ethnicity/race.
Becoming certified to adopt a DCS child does not guarantee a child will be placed for adoption with the interested parent.
To learn more about becoming a licensed foster or certified adoptive parent, please view the online orientation provided by DCS at the following link: https://dcs.az.gov/fosteradoption/steps-becoming-foster-parent or call 1-877-KIDSNEEDU (1-877-543-7633).
To contact Catholic Community Services regarding foster or adoption, please call 520-623-0344 to be connected to our staff or email us at Fosteradopt@ccs-soaz.org.
Once you have viewed the DCS orientation online, we will schedule a time to ask a few questions as well as answer any questions you have. Once you choose an agency to work with, we can plan a home visit to review the process in greater detail.
